Background

I made this film for my Year 12 final project in 2023. I had a Sony a7iii rented from my school, a friend's place, some lights, and a dream. The film gods (film festival rules) deemed it unworthy of a youtube upload but like who cares lol.

This part gets sappy (sorry).

Firstly, this film is for Mitchell and Elias, for if I had scrapped the project after filming I would have erased their hours and hours of labour and anguish. Driving up and down Brisbane in a moment's notice, choking on strawberry milk, swimming in an unheated pool in winter... I hope they get their flowers for whatever they go on to pursue, I just know it'll be grand.

Secondly, this film is for the children out there who weren't dealt the fairest hand, and were left to fend for themselves because their biggest monster lived under their roof. This film is for the boys who've been forced to hide their pink gunk from the world, in fear of what might happen if anyone found out. This film is for the siblings who only ever shared a last name and a roof, and maybe some trauma too. I hope that maybe you all soon fall in a bathtub together, and gather the strength to clean up whatever mess was made. It's worth it, I promise.

And finally, this film is for that little boy who picked up his iPad and mini microphone in Year 8 and decided to make a silly video for his class. I hope he's very proud of me, the same way I'm so grateful for him.

Into The Lights

Short Documentary, 2023, 5mins

Synopsis

As a leader in public education, every high school hosts a plethora of events for its community. These concerts, showcases, and fetes all run at such a professional standard, that one may think people were hired. However, it is the school's own student-led Technical Crew which impressively keep these events afloat. Following key members of Tech Crew, we learn about the ins and outs of this diligent group of students. We understand how difficult this extra-curricular can get: the crews efficiency in completing difficult tasks results in their hard work being underestimated and, ultimately, unrecognised. They do it anyway despite this, whether it be the family-like community instilled within the group or the sheer passion they have for what they do.

Accolades

Bond University of Film and Television Awards: Documentary Finalist (2023)

Background

This film exists as a love letter to the Technical Crew my highschool hosted. It is a wonderful community of talented, hard-working, and diligent students, and it is the backbone of the my highschool's community. I hope their story inspires other highschools to fund their art programs and recognise the importance of creating a community for their students. It is time to shine a light on their story.

War of the Crowns: Fashion VS Beauty

Documentary, 2025, 62mins

Fight Like A Girl

Documentary, 2025, 6mins

Synopsis

Women deal with a disproportionate amount of online hate and toxicity than men when it comes to competitive games like League of Legends. As a result, they find it extremely difficult to enter such a male-dominated scene. 'Fight Like A Girl' is a 6 minute documentary short following the stories of women in the high-school e-sports space. Within the manosphere of competitive gaming, they fight to carve out a space for themselves.

A wonderful documentary that I was able to make for university! Hopefully it resonates as much as it did to make. No Youtube upload yet because we're trying to take it to its festival rounds, but hopefully I'll update soon!
